Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, on Thursday welcomed the Calcutta High Court's decision to extend the deployment of paramilitary forces in violence-hit Murshidabad district for six more weeks.
"TMC has always done this because they know their vote bank consists of Rohingya and Muslims who came from Bangladesh, just so that those people's names not be cut they are doing this," the Union Minister told ANI.
"It is a historical fact that during the independence procedure, Congress accepted the partition, as a result of which Pakistan was created, so Congress is solely responsible for it. It is a black spot in the history of our country... Many mistakes were made by Congress," he said.
Earlier, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that India successfully neutralised any attack by Pakistan, and that no important assets of the Indian armed forces were damaged during the hostilities between India and Pakistan after the launch of Operation Sindoor on May 7 this year.
"Operation Sindoor is a significant achievement for all three of our country's armed forces. If this achievement is discussed in both houses of Parliament, the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, the people of the country will learn more about it," said Sukanta Majumdar.
Amidst the opposition's criticism of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar in both houses of Parliament and the ongoing protest of the opposition, Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar defended the exercise, asserting that reforms are essential for democracy, on Wednesday.
Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to West Bengal, Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar said that under the leadership of the PM, the state would undergo transformation.
