The Indian Air Force (IAF) rescued 13 marooned survivors from a small island in the flooded Brahmaputra, north of Dibrugarh in Assam, officials said on Tuesday.
The flood situation in Kaziranga National Park in Assam has turned critical as the flood waters inundated 95 forest camps. There are a total of 233 camps in the park.
The flood situation in Assam has deteriorated with more than 6.44 lakh people in 19 districts being affected. Floods have claimed 35 lives so far with one person dying in Tinsukia district on Monday, said Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA).
