DRDO’s ‘Bukhari’ heater to help Indian Army battle extreme cold

New Delhi, Jan 11 (ANI): Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has developed multiple products such as ‘Him Taapak’ heating device and snow melters to help the Indian soldiers continue to safeguard the borders in extreme weather conditions. More than 50,000 soldiers are stationed in Eastern Ladakh amid continued border tensions with China. The jawans brave harsh climatic conditions to ensure no transgression from the other side. With this in mind, Indian Army has placed orders worth more than Rs 420 crore of these appliances. Dr Rajeev Varshney, Director of DRDO’s Defence Institute of Physiology and Allied Sciences (DIPAS) told ANI that the ‘Him Taapak’ device will ensure that there are no deaths of jawans due to backblast and carbon monoxide poisoning. An ergonomically-designed backpack is also one of the products to ease the burden of the soldiers.
