Google's Pixel Fold device's internal display to have 120Hz, 1200 nits brightness
New Delhi, Oct 17 (ANI): An exclusive report has uncovered a new set of specifications for American tech giant Google's upcoming foldable Pixel device. According to GSM Arena, the specs uncovered by developer Kuba Wojciechowsck were shared by 91Mobiles. It tells that the Google Pixel Fold (codenamed 'Felix') will feature dual displays (internal and external) and both will be manufactured by Samsung. The internal display will support a resolution of 1840 x 2208 (5:6 aspect ratio) and the dimensions listed are 123mm x 148mm. GSM Arena calculated the hypotenuse diagonal dimension of the display (192.44 mm), it measures 7.58 inches diagonally. As per Wojciechowski, the internal display will output a peak brightness of 1200 nits with an average brightness output of 800 nits. Although there's no certainty from the source, they say the display may support a 120Hz refresh rate. The same developer previously uncovered Felix's triple camera hardware, comprising a 64MP IMX787 main camera, a 12MP IMX386 ultrawide, and a 10.8MP S5K3J1 telephoto shooter, reported GSM Arena.
Samsung Galaxy S23 smartphone to get battery upgrade over predecessor
New Delhi, October 11 (ANI): South Korean tech giant Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S23 series' vanilla version smartphone will have a 3,900 mAh battery, which is an upgrade over the predecessor Galaxy S22. According to GSM Arena, this information comes from a reliable tipster Digital Chat Station. They also stated the screen will be 6.1" with Full HD+ resolution, which is essentially the same as the previous vanilla flagship, meaning Samsung managed to fit a bigger cell in the relatively small body.
Facebook reveals login credentials of over 1 million users stolen by malicious apps
New Delhi, Oct 09 (ANI): Meta, the parent company of Facebook has warned its users about hundreds of apps on Apple and Google's app stores that were specifically designed to steal login credentials to the social network app. According to The Verge, the company has said that over 400 malicious apps disguised as games, photo editors, and other utilities have been identified by them. Facebook is notifying users who "may have unknowingly self-compromised their accounts by downloading these apps and sharing their credentials”.

Apple responds to junkyard crash tests not always triggering its detection feature

Google to end Stadia game streaming service in January 2023
New Delhi, Oct 01 (ANI): American tech giant Google has announced that it will be ending its game streaming service Stadia. It will be finally shut down on January 18, 2023. According to GSM Arena, the company will be refunding all hardware and software purchases to users. All the people who bought the Stadia controller will get a refund. Also, for any game and add-on content purchased through the Stadia store. The refunds are expected to be completed by mid-January 2023. As per Google, the technology that powers Stadia will be used in other parts of the company, such as YouTube, Google Play, and its Augmented Reality (AR) efforts.
Microsoft rolling out Android App support on Windows 11
New Delhi, Sept 30 (ANI): American multinational technology corporation Microsoft has confirmed that it is now rolling out Android app support to Windows 11 users in 21 more countries. According to GSM Arena, WSA, i.e. Windows Subsystem for Android, became available to download for all Windows 11 users, to enable Android app support. With this update, more users can take advantage of a limited selection of Android apps that can be downloaded from the Microsoft Store. Microsoft states that the machine must have at least 8GB of RAM (16GB is recommended), an SSD (solid-state drive), Intel core i3 8th Gen or above, and the Virtual Machine Platform setting must be enabled as well.
Pixel 7 Pro spec leaks suggest smartphone will be powered by Tensor G2 chipset
New Delhi, Sept 28 (ANI): Latest leaks for the upcoming Google Pixel 7 Pro smartphone are painting a picture of mild upgrades compared to its predecessor, which is nearly a year old at this point. According to GSM Arena, among the changes, a switch to the Tensor G2 is expected; the new chip is allegedly bringing in GPU, NPU and modem improvements. Based on unconfirmed info from Yogesh Brar, the Pro model will be available in 12/128GB and 12/256GB configurations. There is no word on a 12/512GB model like the current phones, maybe Google axed it based on sales data or maybe the rumoured info is incomplete. Either way, the Pro phone is expected to have a similar 50MP main, 12MP ultra-wide and 48MP telephoto setup as its predecessor, though the tele camera will allegedly use a new sensor, a Samsung GM1 stepping in to replace the Sony IMX586. The selfie camera will have a subtle change as well - resolution will remain at 11MP, though the new module is expected to have autofocus. The display will be the same as before, a 6.7" LTPO OLED panel with QHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. That will remain a major selling point over the FHD+ 90Hz display of the vanilla Pixel 7.
WhatsApp to roll out call links feature, tests 32-person video chats
New Delhi, Sept 27 (ANI): Instant messaging and calling service Whatsapp will be rolling out a new feature that allows users to share a direct link to a call, making it easier to stay in contact with loved ones. According to The Verge, this feature will start to appear on WhatsApp this week and can be accessed through a banner located at the top of the Calls tab. Users who want to try the Call Link feature will need the latest version of the app. The ability to share a call link with up to 32 users was teased back in April during the announcement of another upcoming feature, WhatsApp Communities. The Call Links feature will support both audio and video calls, and Zuckerberg also confirmed that encrypted video calling is currently being tested for group calls with up to 32 people, which is notable, as WhatsApp currently caps video calls at eight users. Expanded call capacity sets up WhatsApp as a competitor for the likes of Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, or Zoom. These rival offerings have a far greater caller capacity i.e. 100 for Google and Microsoft Teams and 300 for Zoom.
Apple set to manufacture its latest iPhone 14 in India
New Delhi, Sept 26 (ANI): Apple is all set to begin manufacturing its latest iPhone 14 models in India, just days after it had a global unveiling. “The new iPhone 14 lineup introduces ground-breaking new technologies and important safety capabilities. We're excited to be manufacturing iPhone 14 in India,” said Apple in a statement to ANI. Further details about where the iPhone will be manufactured in India, which is the second biggest smartphone market, have not yet been disclosed. As per reports, the locally produced models are likely to make their way into markets later this year. In India, the US tech giant is partnering with top 3 global smartphone manufacturers - Wistron, Foxconn, and Pegatron, according to reports. About iPhone 14: Apple unveiled its highly anticipated iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Plus variant during its ‘Far Out’ event on September 7. This new lineup is inspired by the iPhone 13, with sharp metal edges, rounded corners, a glass back, the recognisable notch at the top of the handset, and a lightning port. The most significant change in the lineup is that the iPhone 13 mini will not be updated with this generation. Instead, the iPhone 14 will be available in two sizes: the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Plus. They both have 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays respectively.
Apple rolls out first firmware update for AirPods Pro 2
New Delhi, Sept 26 (ANI): Apple’s latest AirPods 2 TWS earphones, which were unveiled earlier this month and recently went on sale, are now receiving their first firmware update since launch. According to GSM Arena, the new firmware has version number 5A377, and the release notes state that it comes with bug fixes and ‘other improvements’, but it is not known what bugs are squashed and what's improved with this update. Firmware updates on the shoppingmode AirPods are usually delivered when they are charging and in the Bluetooth range of its user's iPhone, iPad, or Mac, and there's no standard way to install the updates manually, so you'll have to wait till the update arrives on your earphones. However, for those who don't know what firmware their AirPods have, make sure your iPhone/iPad is running the latest OS version, open the Settings app, and head to Bluetooth then AirPods. Tap on the 'More Info' button denoted by 'I' and scroll down to the 'About' section to find the firmware version, as per GSM Arena.
Samsung’s Galaxy S23 Ultra smartphone gets 3C certified, has 25W charging support
New Delhi, Sep 25 (ANI): South Korean tech giant Samsung's Galaxy S23 series is slated to arrive early next year and one of the lineup models has just passed through 3C certification. According to GSM Arena, the corresponding model number SM-S9180 denotes the highest-tier Galaxy S23 Ultra model. In the certification, the device is listed to support a maximum of 25W charging (11V @ 2.25A). This is lower than the Galaxy S22 Ultra's 45W charger support, but the S22 Ultra's 45W charging didn't make a significant dent in the charging times compared to the 25W charging of the Galaxy S21 Ultra. Another possibility is that 25W charging is limited to some variants of the S23 Ultra including, in this case, the Chinese variant.
Google may introduce a compact Pixel phone
New Delhi, Sept 19 (ANI): A recent tip from a leakster suggests that American tech giant Google is working on a compact Pixel smartphone codenamed 'Neila'. According to GSM Arena, the tipster, Digital Chat Station, tells the device could end up being the Pixel 7a, which is said to feature a flat-screen with punch-hole selfie camera cutout and a rear visor just like on the Pixel 6 series phones. No further details were shared about the device but there is speculation that it may end up being the Pixel 7a. Google is already on track to unveil the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro on October 6 alongside its first ever smartwatch - the Pixel Watch. This means people could realistically see the Pixel 7a sometime in Q3 2023. Apple recently announced its iPhone 14 series which omits a mini model in favour of the larger 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Plus. Meanwhile, earlier, developer Kuba Wojciechowski spotted references to a 'Pro' tablet, called 't6pro' or 'tangorpro', in code screenshots shared by him in a Twitter thread. At I/O in May, Google confirmed that it's working on an Android-powered tablet, and developers have figured out that 't6' and 'tangor' refer to the device. However, now with the 'pro' moniker attached to these codenames, it could indicate that Google's working on a higher-end version of the tablet, too, as per The Verge.
Google updates Photos app, brings collage editor and shareable Memories
New Delhi, Sept 18 (ANI): American tech giant Google is seeding a big update to its Photos app, calling it the biggest update for Memories since the feature's inception in 2020. According to GSM Arena, Google has added that Memories is very popular, netting more than 3.5 billion views per month. The feature has now been redesigned to be more dynamic. A big focus has been placed on videos and Photos will now preselect snippets of longer videos to show you. Still, images in Memories are now more immersive thanks to an automatic subtle zooming in or out. Also, users can now share a Memory with another Photos user. The option to share a Memory through a Web link and to iOS will be coming soon. Google notes that users can still choose to omit photos of certain people or time periods from their Memories, reported GSM Arena. Another way your Memories will be more dynamic is through Cinematic photos - Google Photos generates a moving, 3D model of your image and it will render full end-to-end videos with Cinematic photos.
Meta commences Community Chats testing for Facebook Groups in Messenger
New Delhi, Sept 16 (ANI): Mark Zuckerberg has announced that Meta is starting to test Community Chats for Facebook Groups inside the Messenger app. According to GSM Arena, it's probably easiest to think of Community Chats as Meta's own interpretation of Discord. These will be available for Facebook Groups, and users will be able to join and partake from Facebook Messenger. The person who creates the Community Chat can organize it into categories, so group members are easily able to find what's most interesting to them. As an admin, users can start a chat for group members around a specific topic, an event chat for an outing or a meetup, a view-only broadcast chat to announce group-wide updates, and an admin-only chat to collaborate with other admins and moderators.
Apple A16 chip's AnTuTu test shows impressive improvement in GPU performance
New Delhi, Sept 15 (ANI): Even though earlier Geekbench result of Apple's A16 chip painted a particularly grim picture of its performance but now things seem to be looking up as the AnTuTu team has dug up results from the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. According to GSM Arena, the Pro variant posted a total score of 978,147, while the Pro Max managed 972,936. This represents an improvement of around 19 per cent compared to the 13-series models. Also, since the new iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus models use the chipset from the iPhone 13 Pro duo, this is a comparison within the 14-series as well. The vanilla iPhone 14 phones were also upgraded to 6GB of RAM like last year's Pros.
Intel reveals one of its 13th gen CPUs will reach 6GHz at stock, 8GHz when overclocked
New Delhi, Sept 14 (ANI): American multinational technology company Intel has said that at least one of its forthcoming 13th-generation CPUs, which is named Raptor Lake, will be able to run at 6GHz at stock. According to The Verge, this detail was shared in a slide onstage at Intel's Technology Tour 2022, which also says the processor will be capable of hitting 8GHz when overclocked. Other improvements promised for this new generation will include a 15 per cent improvement in single-threaded performance and a 41 per cent improvement in multi-threaded performance.

Hardware specs revealed for Intel's upcoming A750, A770 GPU
New Delhi, Sept 11 (ANI): American multinational corporation technology company Intel has announced additional details about its upcoming Arc-series discrete graphics cards for desktop computers. According to GSM Arena, these will include the A750 and A770 models, which the company has been teasing for several months. Both models, have 28 and 32 Xe-cores, respectively, and are part of the Arc 7 series of graphics cards, which is currently the flagship series that sits above Arc 5 and Arc 3. As a reminder, a Xe-core can be seen as Intel's equivalent of AMD's compute unit and consists of 16 256-bit XVE vector engines for rasterization tasks, 16 1024-bit XMX matrix engines for machine learning tasks, and 192MB of shared L1/SLM cache. Similar to AMD, Intel also matches the Xe-core count with ray tracing units, with one ray tracing unit per Xe-core. The A750 has a graphics clock of 2050MHz and the A770 has 2100MHz. As Intel has explained previously 'Graphics clock' is the average of typical clock speeds users can expect during gaming, not max clocks.

Instagram starts testing new ‘reposts’ feature

According to The Verge, TechCrunch has reported that Instagram confirmed tests of a 'reposts' feature, which will bring someone else's content onto your own timeline. This feature will be similar to Twitter's retweets or the kind of reshares that are common on Tumblr and Facebook and are also being tested on TikTok. TechCrunch has stated that this 'repost' feature was spotted on Wednesday by Matt Navarra, a social media consultant who posted images in a Twitter thread. UPI services to remain free, announces Finance Ministry
New Delhi, Aug 23 (ANI): The Government of India won't levy any charges on UPI (Unified Payments Interface) services. After reports circulated online that there may be the possibility of UPI transactions carrying a service charge, the finance ministry on Sunday denied the news. In a tweet, the finance ministry said that UPI would remain free. "UPI is a digital public good with immense convenience for the public and productivity gains for the economy. There is no consideration in Government to levy any charges for UPI services. The concerns of the service providers for cost recovery have to be met through other means," the tweet read. “The Government had provided financial support for Digital Payment ecosystem last year and has announced the same this year as well to encourage further adoption of Digital Payments and promotion of payment platforms that are economical and user-friendly,” the ministry added. Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Prime Minister Narendra Modi had hailed the UPI transactions crossing 6 billion in July."This is an outstanding accomplishment. It indicates the collective resolve of the people of India to embrace new technologies and make the economy cleaner. Digital payments were particularly helpful during the COVID-19 pandemic," Modi had tweeted.
Apple's iPhone 14 launch event might happen in early September
New Delhi, Aug 18 (ANI): American tech giant Apple, which typically hosts a big event in the first part of September, might be targeting a September 7 date for its next product launch event. According to The Verge, the news regarding the upcoming Apple event was shared by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. As with the company's other events that have taken place during the COVID-19 pandemic, the plan is for this event to be streamed online, Gurman reported. At the show, Apple is rumored to announce the iPhone 14 lineup, which is expected to include: the base iPhone 14, a new big-screened iPhone 14, an iPhone 14 Pro, and an iPhone 14 Pro Max.
