Villagers protest for cash payment of ‘plucking Tendu leaves’ in Bijapur

Bijapur (Chhattisgarh), Jun 30(ANI): Residents of 50 villages in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur on June 29 broke police barricading to enter collector office with their demands. The demands included cash payment to them for collection of Tendu leaves. The protestors had walked to the office from Cherpal village, covering 25 km on foot. One of the protestors said, "The Collector told us that we will be given cash within two days. If that doesn't happen we will protest again."
