Pune (Maharashtra), Jan 12 (ANI): The first batch of COVID-19 vaccine ‘Covishield’ dispatched by Serum Institute of India (SII) in Pune arrived in various states including Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, Bihar and Hyderabad. The COVID vaccination drive will start in India from Jan 16. Serum Institute of India, CEO Adar Poonawalla called it a historical moment. Poonawalla said that the main challenge is to bring it to everyone in the country. “It is our challenge for 2021, let's see how it happens,” he added. On the price of the vaccine, Adar Poonawalla said, “We've given a special price of Rs 200 for the first 100 million doses only to Government of India on their request that we want to support common man, vulnerable, poor, healthcare workers. After that we'll be selling it at Rs 1000 in private markets.”
