Rampant stubble burning in Punjab

Amritsar (Punjab), Sept 26 (ANI): Farmers continue burning stubble in their fields in Amritsar district of Punjab. The farmers said that they do not wish to burn stubble but they are compelled to do so dur to lack of Government’s assistance. Speaking on this issue, Punjab Remote Sensing, Director, Dr Brijender Pateriya said, “97 stubble burning incidents reported between 21st and 25th September this year in Punjab; 197 such incidents were reported during this period last year. Maximum incidents reported from Amritsar, Tarn Taran & Patiala.”
