Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh), Mar 03 (ANI): The population of donkeys decreasing in a drastic manner in Andhra Pradesh allegedly due to illegal slaughtering of the animal. Assistant Director of Animal Husbandry Department of Andhra Pradesh said, “From 10,161 in 2012 to 4,678 in 2019, a vast decline in donkeys' population in last 4-5 years due to illegal slaughtering and misconceptions like donkey meat cures aphrodisiac. People should know that under FSSAI, donkey consumption is illegal. The maximum complaints of illegal slaughtering of donkeys have been received from districts of Prakasam, Krishna, West Godavari, and Guntur.”
