Noida (UP), July 03 (ANI): Defence Ministry on July 02 approved proposal to acquire 33 new fighter aircrafts from Russia including 12 Su-30 MKiS and 21 MiG-29s along with upgradations of 59 existing MiG-29s. The total cost of these projects would be Rs 18,148 crore. While speaking to ANI, defence expert, Major General (Retd) SP Sinha said, “This is an excellent and strategic decision by our Defence Minister because if you want peace then you have to be prepared for war. Russia is our reliable supplier so all these factors are contributed to take this decision.” “Operational preparedness has to be of top gear and we will have to fill the deficiency with maximum fighter jets,” he added.
