New Delhi, Sep 17 (ANI): Speaking over his tweet regarding "request to exclude 'Bangalore Rose', a variety of onions, from banning on export", BJP MP Tejasvi Surya said, "Decision to ban onions export, to regulate its prices in domestic market is welcomed. However, there's a variety - 'Bangalore Rose' -grown in and around Bengaluru, including Bengaluru Rural, Kolar, Chikkaballapur, primarily for export. It has no domestic market. Farmers growing this variety of onions are in trouble as ban includes that variety also. Therefore, I wrote to Minister for Commerce, asking him to exempt this particular variety of onions from ban so that farmers in Karnataka can get benefit and continue export business." GoI had banned export of all varieties of onions with immediate effect from September 14.
