‘No intention of closing private madrassas’: Assam Education Minister

Guwahati (Assam), Oct 17 (ANI): Assam government to disband the madrassa board in the state. Assam Health and Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the state government has decided to close madrassa education in Assam based on certain definite research but private madrassas will be regulated and not closed. “No intention of closing private madrassas. We're bringing regulation for private madrassas, they've to introduce science-maths in curriculum, they've to register with state, constitutional mandate to be respected but can retain character of madrassa,” he said.
