Nagaland: Rockslide blocks NH-29, damages 4 cars

Kohima (Nagaland), Feb 2(ANI): The National Highway (NH)- 29 at Chümoukedima, Dimapur has been blocked after the second incident of rockslide occurred in the region. According to the police, the rockslide occurred at around 10 am approximately1.5km away from the Chumukedima police check post towards Kukidolong today. Police said that four vehicles got caught in the landside and are trapped under huge rock debris, leaving three injured. The damaged vehicles included a Mahindra Bolero, Mahindra pickup, Gypsy, and a Wagon-R. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dimapur Rajesh Soundararajan has informed that because of the heavy rockslide between Chumukedima Police Check posts till New Chumukedima village, the road from Chathe River Bridge (Patkai Bridge) to Kukidolong is closed with immediate effect till further notice is issued. The locals have been asked to take the alternate route from Dimapur - Kohima / Kohima – Dimapur for light vehicles only via 7th Mile - New D.C office Shokhuvi – Razaphe- Mhaikam - Pimla –Mhainamtsi – Jhornapani/Medziphema and vice- versa.
