Kashmir inching towards prosperity with nearly no stone-pelting in months

Srinagar, J&K 03 Aug : People in Kashmir valley feel there has been a considerable dip in incidents of stone-pelting and shutdown calls after India scrapped a constitutional provision late last year that allowed the state of Jammu and Kashmir to make its own laws. From August 2019, when India abrogated Article 370 of the Constitution, till January 2020, stone-pelting incidents in Kashmir have came down to almost nil. People say there has been calm in "stone-pelting hotspots" adding that focus of the youth of the region has shifted to education and sports. "The educated youth now understands that they will get nothing out of this (stone-pelting)," said a Srinagar resident, Mohammed Yousuf.
