Pampore (J&K), Dec 03 (ANI): Saffron growers in Kashmir Valley are happy with the first high tech Spice Park which is equipped with all the modern facilities. The purpose of this high tech Spice Park is to improve saffron production in the region. Recently, the Kashmiri saffron got the Geographical Indication (GI) tag after the state was transformed into a union territory. With the new high tech Spice Park, saffron growers are hopeful of a turnaround in the production and marketing of their product. The high tech Spice Park has four big halls and thousands of trays. More than a hundred growers can occupy a hall at a time for the separation process. The park also has a laboratory for testing and monitoring the moisture level of saffron which is very important to maintain the quality of the product. The plucking process of saffron flowers starts in October-November, and this year the growers have also got online facilities to sell their products in any part of the world.
