Farmers rejoice over bumper walnut harvest in J&K’s Kralpora

Budgam (Jammu and Kashmir), Sep 24 (ANI): The harvesting season of world famous Kashmiri walnut crop has begun in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir. Farmers of Kralpora are expecting good profits because of feasible weather conditions this year, and hybrid varieties introduced by the Central Institute of Temperate Horticulture (CITH). According to the farmers, the weather in the state had been pleasant throughout the year without any untimely rains, which has favoured both the walnut and almond crops in the region.CITH Director Dr Deshbeer Singh said the walnut harvest has increased both in quality and quantity due to good weather conditions this year, adding that the new varieties introduced in the last few years has given successful results, and the new cultivation process occupies minimum land. Kashmiri nuts are widely known for their superior quality and taste, and remain in great demand among the tourists who preferred to buy them in large quantities during their visit.
