Farm laws: Bharatiya Kisan Union blocks railway tracks in Patiala

Patiala (Punjab), Oct 04 (ANI): Members of Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) blocked railway tracks near Shambhu in Patiala, during a protest against the new farm laws. Protesters said that the new farm reforms will benefit corporate firms only. The farmers started their protest from September 24 and said they will continue till government dismissed it. Punjab has witnessed fierce protests by farmers over the three laws - Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020; Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020 and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act - that were approved by the President on September 27.
