Construction of Tral lift irrigation project in full swing after J&K becomes UT

Pulwama (J&K), Jul 29 (ANI): After Jammu and Kashmir became Union Territory in 2019 following the abrogation of Article 370, the construction work of Tral Lift Irrigation Scheme has gained momentum. The three-stage lift irrigation project is being implemented at the cost of Rs 170.50 crore, and will help 22 villages of Traland Awantipora blocks get irrigation facility. The mega project is also being monitored by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). Stage I and Stage II (partly) of the project were commissioned some time ago, and the work going at a low pace for Stage III, but now the work has started on war-footing after the administration directed officials to complete the construction before year end. The Executive Engineer of Irrigation and Flood Control, NisarAhmad Kar said, “UT government helped a lot to escalate the project. Honourable PMO has also shown interest in the project. These all are the positive reasons that now the project is in its full swing. We are following all the SOPs and directives given by government in view of COVID-19 pandemic.” One of the villagers said, “The moment Jammu and Kashmir has turned into UT, a lot of schemes have started here. The construction of irrigation facility has started in Tral. I am thankful of Government of India for starting schemes here that is helping to provide employment.”
