New Delhi/ Hyderabad Aug 21 (ANI): The political battle has started over Facebook between Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) within the IT standing committee, after BJP MP Nishikant Dubey called for the removal of Shashi Tharoor from the post of the panel chief. “Government is using social media platforms against country’s politics. Congress has complaint about it. A strict action should be taken against them,” said Congress leader Ponnam Prabhakar. However, BJP’s spokesperson, Gopal Krishna Agarwal said parliament standing committee’s chairman can’t set agendaBJP spokesperson Gopal Krishna Agarwal said, “Shashi Tharoor hasn’t replied to Nishikant Dubey’s questions, that chairman can’t set an agenda and can’t summon someone individually till the matter haven’t discussed in the committee.” The parliamentary committee on Information Technology headed by Congress leader Shashi Tharoor had summoned Facebook representatives over US-based publication’s claims against social media platform for allegedly not flagging hate speech by BJP leaders.
