Jaipur (Rajasthan) September 22 (ANI): Reviewing the Public Works Department, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said that according to the suggestions of public representatives and locals’ needs, Gramin Vikas Path, missing links, road renovation or repair works should be done in the Gram Panchayats. The chief minister said it is a priority of the state government to make good and quality roads. He directed the officials that there should not be any compromise with quality control in the construction of roads. There is a provision for quality checks of roads funded by the World Bank and Asian Development Bank and roads of National Highways by independent engineers. Third party inspection of road construction work should be done by implementing the same system to maintain the quality of roads constructed through NABARD under RIDF. During the meeting, Gehlot also underlined that some roads do not need to be repaired for a long time and some roads deteriorate soon. In such a way, the responsibility of maintaining the quality should be that of the contractor. He also directed to make provision for the maintenance of the roads by concerned contractors for five year which is three years now.
