Kathua (J&K), Sep 21 (ANI): The Kandi belt in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district is yet to get irrigation facility. However, to keep the livelihood of farmers afloat, the Agriculture Department has started a project to introduce new farming techniques to the locals of Kandi. Around 70 farmers in the Kandi belt are now growing multiple vegetables in their fields in the rainy season. This organic farming method has multiplied their earnings by 3-4 times. The farmers use cluster method by cultivating similar vegetables which include cucumber, lady finger, Brinjal and bitter gourd. One of the farmers appreciated the administration’s initiative, and said earlier only one house used to grow cucumbers, but since the government intervention, almost all the farmers have started cultivating such vegetables and more.
