Brinjal farmers incurring losses amid COVID-19 in Odisha’s Ganjam

Berhampur (Odisha), July 16 (ANI): Farmers who have cultivated brinjal in Odisha’s Ganjam district are suffering losses amid coronavirus pandemic. They are unable to sell their product at profitable prices due to COVID-19 situation. Farmers have not recovered their investment. While speaking to ANI, one of the farmers said, “I have not been able to recover my investment and have suffered loss of over Rs 1 lakh.” Speaking to ANI, the District Magistrate (DM) of Ganjam District, Vijay Amruta Kulange said, “We are looking into the supply chain management and we will involve Self Help Group (SHGs) and volunteers for doorstep delivery of farmer’s produce.” There are over 4200 active cases of coronavirus in Odisha.
