Guwahati (Assam), Feb 15 (ANI): Union External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on February 15 said, “Assam has long been the bridge between India and the world to our East. The advent of colonialism and subsequent emergence of nation-states had effectively disrupted seamless connection between eastern India and Assam and world to our East. But this changed since 2014.” “Act East Policy is an approach to create connectivity within Assam, to the North-East then to Myanmar and Bangladesh but eventually push by road, sea, air to Vietnam and Japan. It won't just be an economic activity but make Assam more connected, energetic, contributing and employed,” he added while addressing an event in Guwahati. EAM Jaishankar is on a two-day visit to Assam.
