Amarnath Yatra cancelled in wake of COVID-19 pandemic

New Delhi, July 21 (ANI): The Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) on July 21 said that this year's Amarnath Yatra has been cancelled due to prevailing COVID-19 situation. Decision was taken at a meeting of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) to discuss the conduct of the Yatra 2020. The meeting was presided by Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu, who is Chairman of SASB.Every year around 10 lakh devotees visit the Amarnath cave shrine. This is the second year in a row that the pilgrimage would not be carried out.“Government has taken this step after seeing the current situation of COVID-19. I think we should support this decision,” BJP leader Kavinder Gupta told to ANI.
