Mumbai, June 27 (ANI): Amid lockdown and unlock 1.0 to contain the spread of COVID-19, most of the shops and other businesses have opened but gyms in the country are still waiting for government’s go ahead. As Maharashtra government on June 25 cleared a proposal to open gyms and salons in the state, the gym owners in Mumbai are ready to open gyms while taking all precautions against COVID-19 but they are still waiting for the permission of local authorities as they haven’t said anything in regards to the decision of the state government. Abhishek Patil, a gym owner said, "I have heard that gyms have been allowed to reopen but local authorities have not said anything about it so far." Mumbai is one of the cities which have recorded one of the highest COVID cases in the country. In the order issued by the Maharashtra cabinet, barber shops, salons and beauty parlours will resume operations from June 28. Gyms can reopen within a week’s time, and guidelines for them will be issued soon.
