Jaipur (Rajasthan) September 16 (ANI): Reviewing the agriculture and various departments, Chief Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot emphasised on innovation in collaboration with progressive farmers, promoting organic and natural farming, research on the basis of geographical conditions and climate to make agriculture a profitable business for the farmers in the state.He said that agriculture is a matter of high priority for the state government, because the development of the agriculture sector only gives impetus to the progress of the state and the country.He directed the officials to campaign to increase the coverage of procurement on the minimum support price (MSP) of various crops, rationalise the crop insurance scheme, promote low water crops, drip and sprinkler irrigation projects.During the meeting, the Chief Minister decided to pay Rs 250 crore for the state share payable to insurance companies as premium for the Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme from the Farmers Welfare Fund set up by the state government.In addition, an amount of Rs 92.2 crore was also sanctioned from the Farmers Welfare Fund for payment of outstanding obligations for construction of ponds in various districts of the state.
