After oil and gas, now with potash, Rajasthan will get a new identity: CM Gehlot

Jaipur (Rajasthan) January 22 (ANI): To study the economic feasibility of Potash mineral deposits in the Nagaur-Ganganagar basin, a tripartite MoU was signed involving the Government of Rajasthan, Rajasthan State Mines and Minerals Limited (RSMML) and the Central PSU Mineral Exploration Corporation Limited (MECL). The MoU was signed in the presence of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Union Coal and Mines Minister Pralhad Joshi and Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Arjun Ram Meghwal. On this occasion, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said that Rajasthan has a major contribution in making the country self-sufficient in terms of minerals. Minerals are abundantly present in Rajasthan. It is our endeavour to exploit them properly and make Rajasthan the number one state in the field of mining. For this and a consultant will also be appointed to search the mineral wealth of the entire state. CM Gehlot said that India imports most of the potash for its use. Annually, around 10 thousand crores of foreign exchange is spent on import of about 5 million tonnes of potash. We will be able to become self-sufficient by the deposits of potash identified in Ganganagar, Hanumangarh and Bikaner districts. The MoU will prove to be a step towards mining of potash.
