After Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee alleged that the police manhandled women protesters at Raj Ghat, Delhi Police has said that TMC leaders were requested to vacate the Samadhi Sthal peacefully.
In a post on X, the TMC said that Giriraj Singh should get his facts straight before attacking the government of West Bengal and undermining the struggles of lakhs of deprived rural poor.
The TMC has alleged of denial of MGNREGA and other housing scheme funds by the central government to the state while the BJP-led Centre has dismissed the claim by Mamata Banerjee’s party.
Commenting on the alleged attack, TMC general secretary Abhishek Banerjee said, "These people are scared, that is why they are doing this. Their fear has started showing. Why else would they do such things?"
Trinamool Congress party workers have gathered at the Rajghat in Delhi on Gandhi Jayanti and held a protest against the central government alleging a lack of fund allocation for MGNREGA and other social security schemes for West Bengal.
