New Delhi [India], October 1 (ANI): Trinamool Congress (TMC) General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee arrived at TMC MP Sougata Roy's residence in Delhi for a meeting ahead of the protest against the central government on Monday and Tuesday.
Sources say that senior TMC leaders will be holding discussions on the strategy of the party's mega protest in their meeting at Roy's residence.
Sudip Bandyopadhyay, Chandrima Bhattacharya, Dola Sen, Babul Supriyo and other senior TMC leaders have already arrived at Roy's residence.
The TMC will hold a protest against the central government for stopping the disbursement of funds to the state for MGNREGA, AWAS Yojana and other central government schemes.
After arriving at the Delhi airport, Banerjee clarified that his fight is not against any probe agency.
"Stop me if you can. I am not challenging any probe agency, whatever I had to say I have said. I am putting that challenge right across from the soil of Delhi," he told reporters on Sunday.
"The MPs and the ministers are meeting here tonight. There will be discussions and deliberations and we will explore the way forward," Banerjee said about the meeting.
Earlier in the day, the TMC General Secretary said though Union Minister Giriraj Singh is at Delhi, he has declined to meet the TMC delegation.
"Giriraj Singh is in Delhi and is not meeting TMC representatives who are going to Delhi. Earlier when we went to meet Giriraj Singh at his office, he did not meet us despite being present. This shows the callous attitude of BJP to the people West Bengal," Banerjee said speaking to reporters before leaving for Delhi. (ANI)
