Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal on Thursday said that action has been initiated to revoke the diplomatic passport of suspended Janata Dal-Secular MP Prajwal Revanna, adding that he has to reply to the show cause notice issued on May 23.
Congress leader and Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge on Thursday slammed the suspended JD-S leader Prajwal Revanna over the obscene video case and alleged that the leader moved the court for anticipatory bail on the instructions of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Suspended JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna filed an application for anticipatory bail in connection with the alleged obscene video case on Wednesday. The bail plea has been filed at the Bengaluru sessions court.
Special Investigation Team (SIT) officials have arrested two prime accused in connection with the JD(S) suspended MP Prajwal Revanna obscene video case, said police.
Further, targeting the Karnataka government over the completion of its one year in power, the state BJP president said that their achievement is a big zero.
"Prajwal Revanna may say whatever he wants, but eventually he will have to face the law once he lands," Shivakumar told reporters at the KPCC office in Bengaluru on Monday.
Amid the ongoing investigation into the alleged obscene video case, the accused MP of Hassan Prajwal Revanna, in a self-made video released on Monday, said that he will appear before the Special Investigative Team (SIT) on May 31 for questioning.
This comes after Karnataka minister G Parameshwara took a dig at External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar's statement that the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) received a request only on May 21 to impound the passport of Prajwal Revanna.
Revanna is facing a probe by a Special Investigative Team (SIT) constituted by the Karnataka government over allegations of sexual harassment and criminal intimidation following a complaint by a woman who worked in his household.
In an exclusive interview with ANI, Jaishankar clarified the procedural aspects, saying, "To impound a passport is governed by an act called the Passport Act. We need a judicial court or a police request to do so. The MEA got this request from Karnataka only on May 21."
