The vacant post of Vice President is to be filled "as soon as possible" with the constitutional norms not mentioning a specific time frame, government sources said on Tuesday.

Speaking exclusively to ANI, Tejashwi Yadav questioned whether the resignation was voluntary or forced, highlighting that if health issues were the reason, Dhankhar could have stepped down before the session began.
Congress leader Randeep Surjewala on Tuesday slammed the BJP following the resignation of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar, stating that the party has a track record of "weakening both constitutional offices and processes".
"This cannot be believed...I don't think it's due to health reasons...Yesterday, the entire proceedings of the house were controlled and chaired by him...Health reasons alone cannot be the sole reason for resignation. Maybe some other political reason or other," Premachandran told ANI.
"The Vice President has resigned due to health reasons. I wish Jagdeep Dhankhar ji, the very best of health and wish him a long life," said Surya while speaking to the media.
"This is very shocking for everyone. He could have resigned after the conclusion of the Monsoon session. Everyone is making assumptions regarding the reason behind Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar's resignation. There should be clarity on it," said Maji.
As Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned as the Vice President of India, the residents of his native village, Kithana in Rajasthan's Jhunjhunu, expressed "shock" over the decision and said his health has deteriorated.
"The party decides this. Whoever becomes the VP will be on them. I will be happy if someone from Bihar becomes the Vice President," the minister told reporters in Patna.
