New Delhi [India], July 22 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party MP Ravi Kishan on Tuesday slammed the Opposition parties for "doing politics on someone's health condition," following Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar's resignation from the post.
Speaking to ANI, Kishan mentioned that the doctors have advised Jagdeep Dhankhar to rest, and the Opposition is also engaging in politics over it.
"The opposition is making fun of someone's health condition and doing politics on it. One has seen healthy people falling and dying suddenly, too. Who knows when someone becomes sick? The doctor has advised him to rest. If somebody needs to rest, then they are doing politics on that too," Ravi Kishan said.
Meanwhile, BJP leader Kangana Ranaut expressed gratitude to Dhankhar for his time and service to the country and Parliament, saying, "We are grateful to him for giving his time and service to the country and Parliament. We will always be grateful to him for this."
Amid mounting speculation over the reasons behind Jagdeep Dhankhar's resignation, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi said this morning that the relationship between the Vice President and the centre doesn't seem like it did before.
Labelling Dhankar's resignation as "sudden and unfortunate", Gogoi said that the Vice President presided over Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meetings on Monday. He expressed that the relationship between Dhankar and the central government might have taken a hit, given that two Union Ministers were also not present in the BAC meeting.
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Arvind Sawant also said Dhankhar's health has been deliberately "made worse," and questioned the Bharatiya Janata Party's "silence" on the resignation.
"The Vice President's health has not deteriorated so much that he has to resign. Someone has made his health worse. The ruling party is silent. This means that something is wrong," Sawant said.
Jharkhand Mukti Morcha MP Mahua Maji also expressed shock over Dhankhar's decision.
The Ministry of Home Affairs, vide its notification, conveyed the resignation of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar under 67A of the Constitution with immediate effect. The announcement was made just before the upper house of Parliament was adjourned until 2:00 PM on Tuesday. (ANI)
