JU registrar Snehamanju Basu recently received a threat letter over the arrest of a former student in connection with the death of an undergraduate student in a ragging case at the university hostel.
The leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, hit out at Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over an alleged threat letter to the registrar of Jadavpur University, claiming she has asked to the police away to aid and abet the "anti-national" activities on campus.
Two ex-students of Gurudas College were booked for alleged ragging of the present batch by pressurising it to participate in political programmes, the police said.
"The ragging had been happening for a long time and the administration knew about it. The Jadavpur Police Station is 100m away. They also knew about it. West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee also knew about it but nothing was done. If the death would not have happened then this would have continued
"They are antinational and belong to the tukde tukde gang. They spend their time on drugs and give antinational slogans. During elections they say- No vote to BJP, No vote to Modi ji," Suvendu Adhikari said.
