Several Congress leaders on Saturday said that the six Congress rebels and three independents who joined the BJP in Delhi betrayed the party due to selfishness.
Himachal Pradesh Minister Rajesh Dharmani on Saturday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party will not be able to succeed in destabilising the Congress government in the state, adding that his party will register victory in the assembly bypolls.
Three independent MLAs from Himachal Pradesh who voted in favour of a BJP candidate in the Rajya Sabha elections last month joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in the national capital on Saturday.
Nigam Bhandari, State President of Himachal Youth Congress on Friday said that he is ready to contest from the Mandi Lok Sabha seat if his party provides him an opportunity.
"Today, the meeting of BJP State Legislature Party was held in Shimla under the chairmanship of MLA Shri Vipin Parmar. There was a detailed discussion on party-related issues in the meeting," the Himachal Pradesh BJP said in a post on 'X'.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu and state Congress president Pratibha Singh slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government at the Center for 'freezing the bank accounts of Congress' ahead of Lok Sabha elections and termed it as the 'murder of democracy.'
The Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Himachal Pradesh legislative assembly, Jairam Thakur, accused the Congress-led government in the state of framing false cases against the elected representatives and working in the spirit of revenge.
"We have received their resignations but we are examining the rules and constitutional provisions for this, so far we have not accepted their resignations," Pathania said, speaking about the resignations of the three Independent MLAs on Friday.
The MLAs include KL Thakur from Nalagarh, Hoshiyar Singh from Dehra and Ashish Sharma from Hamirpur seat. There are reports that these MLAS will be joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Abhishek Rana, son of disqualified Congress MLA Rajinder Rana, said he received threat calls on Tuesday evening, while his father's office also received a threat letter.
Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in the country, the Election Commission of India issued an order to halt fresh sanctions for governmental schemes in Himachal Pradesh.
