Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], March 23 (ANI): Nigam Bhandari, State President of Himachal Youth Congress on Friday said that he is ready to contest from the Mandi Lok Sabha seat if his party provides him with an opportunity.
"Whatever decision the party will take, we shall follow it. I would like to thank Thakur Kaul Singh ji for advocating a youth's candidature for Parliament elections from the Mandi seat. I have also applied. I am ready to contest if party leadership directs for the same. We shall also advocate for youth representation in the by-elections also," Nigam Bhandari told ANI.
Bhandari alleged that the Centre is trying to murder democracy by suppressing political opponents ahead of elections.
"The Supreme Court has earlier exposed the BJP on the issue of electoral bonds. The real face of the BJP is now in front of the people of the country. They have now arrested the Chief Minister of Delhi just ahead of the Lok Sabha polls. This is completely the death of democracy," Bhandari said.
On the freezing of the bank accounts of Congress by the Income Tax Department, Bhandari said, "Congress party had collected donations for the election and the BJP and government realized that that would help the opposition parties fight elections but now the BJP government has frozen the accounts of the opposition parties."
The elections to the four Lok Sabha seats of Himachal Pradesh and bypolls to the six assembly constituencies that fell vacant with the disqualification of six rebel Congress MLAs will be held on June 1. (ANI)
