The death toll in the stampede that took place at the Mansa Devi temple in Haridwar on Sunday morning has risen to 8. The total number of injured in the tragic incident has been reported to be 30, according to the District Administration, Haridwar.
At least six people, including a minor, were killed and 28 others injured in a stampede that broke out near the Mansa Devi Temple in Uttarakhand's Haridwar on Sunday morning.
Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday called the stampede incident at Mansa Devi Temple "heart-wrenching" and criticised the BJP government for failing to manage crowds at religious events.
Speaking to ANI, Pramendra Singh Dobhal said, "We have spoken with the temple administration and trust, and we have concluded that implementing a one-way system is absolutely essential. The one-way system will be implemented with immediate effect."
At least six people were killed and several others injured in the incident that occurred during a heavy rush of devotees. Four of the people killed in the incident are from Uttar Pradesh.
The Uttarakhand government has also announced the same ex gratia compensation. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said a magisterial inquiry has been ordered.
