Tiruchirappalli Police on Tuesday arrested 10 persons under various IPC sections and under the Motor Vehicles Act for performing dangerous stunts and bursting firecrackers while riding motorcycles.
Meanwhile, eight other people who were injured in the fire that broken out at the cracker market in Gopal Bagh in Raya town on November 12 were referred to hospitals in Delhi, where they are undergoing treatment. The remaining three injured have been admitted to hospitals in Agra and Mathur

Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai has accused Bharatiya Janata Party leaders of promoting the bursting of firecrackers on Diwali which led to an increase in pollution in the city.
The police seized 49.9 Kg of firecrackers from the shop located at North East Delhi's West Vinod Nagar, on Sunday. The accused was identified as Rajnish Gupta, a resident of West Vinod Nagar
"We do not know how after thorough checking 2-5 people were able to take firecrackers inside the hall. Checking was done in front of me. I checked the audience as well. I cannot blame any security guard of laxity. Someone might have been oversmart," Rakesh Pande, the theatre owner said.
Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai accused the BJP-led governments in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana of allowing the burning of firecrackers on Diwali despite the ban.
According to the official release, a total of 2,206 cases were registered against 2,246 people in Tamil Nadu on November 12 and November 13. Chennai recorded the highest number of cases at 568.
According to the Delhi Police, 17 cases were registered under section 188 of the IPC in multiple police stations for flouting the ban on firecrackers in the North East District.
