Two naxal couples carrying cash reward of Rs 20 lakh surrendered before security personnel in insurgency-hit Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh, police said on Monday.
"There was an exchange of fire between Maoists and security forces in the Basaguda-Pamed-Usor tri-junction area of Bijapur district. Security forces are fine; any damage to naxals would be clear only after the completion of search operations," Inspector General Bastar P Sundarraj said.
While speaking to ANI, CM Baghel said," This incident will not affect our morale, instead our security personnel and officials will battle intensely and definitely avenge".
An encounter broke out between a joint party of Indo-Tibetan Border Police and District Reserve Guard and Naxals in the forest area of Chote Burgum in Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur district on Sunday, officials said.
