Supreme Court judge Justice Sanjay Karol on Wednesday recused from hearing the Bihar Government plea challenging the Patna High Court order putting an interim stay on the caste-based census in the state.
"The high court has rejected the appeal and has given clear directions that a hearing will be held from July 3 and no adjournment will be given," Dinu Kumar, petitioners' advocate on Bihar government's appeal in Patna High Court on the caste-based survey said.
Patna High Court completed the hearing and reserved the verdict on the enumeration of castes and economic survey in Bihar by the state government on Wednesday.
The Supreme Court on Friday refused to entertain a plea challenging the Bihar Government's decision to conduct a caste-based survey and census in the state.
Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav once again called for a caste-based census on Saturday and claimed that only with caste-based census 'Ram Rajya' is possible.
Informing about the involvement of people in the second phase of the caste-based census, DM Singh said, "All the families are sharing information positively".
These regulations do not replace other regulations/guidelines made/issued by the UGC from time to time to ensure that no student is discriminated against on the basis of caste, creed, religion, language, ethnicity, gender or disabilities.
