WhatsApp to build India team as part of reported steps to curb fake news

New Delhi, Aug 06 (ANI): WhatsApp is building a team, including India head, as part of steps to check fake news circulation in the country. WhatsApp has limited the number of forwarded messages to five in India. This came after the Indian government mounted pressure on social media sites and messaging apps to regulate norms the accordingly to handle menace of rumours and fake news on its platform. Last month, WhatsApp had added a new feature to its platform to make it easier for users to identify messages or content which is being circulated across groups and individual chats by labeling them ‘Forwarded’.
