Google Chrome security update makes it RAM hungry

New Delhi, Jul 19 (ANI): Google has updated its Chrome browser with a new site isolation feature, offering additional protection for a secure browsing experience. With this security measure, Chrome is better guarded against vulnerabilities including Meltdown and Spectre, but at the cost of RAM usage. Speculative execution side-channel attacks like Spectre are a newly discovered security threat for web browsers. A website could use such attacks to steal data or login information from other websites that are open in the browser. For now, the feature is rolled out to 99 percent of desktop and Google will be soon extending it to Android users as well. Chrome will load each website in its own process. So, even if a site bypasses the same-origin policy, the additional security will make it harder for untrustworthy websites to access or steal your data from another website.
