New Delhi, Nov 28 (ANI): Social media platform Facebook is using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to prevent suicide. Vice President of Product Management at Facebook Guy Rosen informed the new technology will help prevent suicide by recognising patterns in posts, and analyzing videos that users share. Rosen stated Facebook will improve how its first responders are contacted, and dedicate more reviewers to watch for reports of self-harm. "Facebook is a place where friends and family are already connected and we are able to help connect a person in distress with people who can support them," Rosen said. "It’s part of our ongoing effort to help build a safe community on and off Facebook." Facebook has been monitoring comments that would suggest that something is wrong. These usually begin with, “Can I help?”, “Are you ok?”. The company's AI tools will also monitor Facebook Live. In case users see any post that may suggest the possibility of self-harm, Rosen encouraged them to report directly to Facebook itself. Facebook is working on making its tool available to the United States and eventually to most of the world.
