New Delhi, Sep 04 (ANI): 2004 Athens Olympic Silver Medalist Shooter Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore on Sunday was appointed as the Union Sports Minister, replacing Vijay Goel. Earlier, Rathore was serving as the minister of state for information and broadcasting and this is the first time that a sportsperson has been given the duty to handle the Sports Ministry of the country. Talking to ANI, Rathore stated that the first philosophy for the government to work on is Provsion and Respect for the players so that they can get an environment to improve their game. Rathore stepped into the shooting game in the 1990s and thus eventually he became the nations first-ever individual silver medal winner at the Olympics. In the following year, he was conferred with the Padma Shri. There are high chances that his inclusion into the ministry can accelerate Indias desire to strengthen their performance in the Olympics and other broad-based international games.
