Ulan-Ude (Russia)/ New Delhi, Oct 10 (ANI): Indian star boxer M C Mary Kom on October 10 surpassed herself as the most successful boxer in the history of the Women’s World Championships, she secured unprecedented 8th medal by advancing to the semifinals in Russia. After securing eight world medal she said that she is happy to secured a medal but I would be looking to make it better by reaching the finals. “I hope that I will do better to get a gold medal,” she said. The Indian boxer defeated rival in Colombia’s Valencia Victoria, fetching a unanimous 5-0 verdict to make it the last-four stage. Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju congratulated Mary Kom by saying, “5 Indians being in quarter final is itself a record but Mary Kom is assured of a medal again. She has already won 6 world championship title & is already in semi-final again. She is already a legend. I'll call her & wish her for next matches.” The Sports Minister also appreciated her dedication towards boxing by saying, “The way Mary Kom has shown her commitment for sports after becoming mother of three children itself is not only a contribution to the boxing but it’s a big message to the sports as a whole. If you have the will power you can achieve anything.”
