India bags five gold medals at World Women's Youth Boxing Championship

Guwahati (Assam), Nov 27 (ANI): Indian women boxers won five gold medals at the AIBA World Women's Youth Boxing Championship 2017, which concluded in Guwahati on Sunday. It is by far the best performance put up by Indian boxers in the tournament. In 2011, India failed to bag any gold medal. Ankushita Boro won the gold medal in 64-kg category. The tally of gold medals for India started after Haryana girl Nitu won the first gold medal of the day, as she eased past Kazakhstan's Zhazira Urakbayeva in the 48kg category finals. Jyoti Gulia (51kg), Sakshi Choudhury (54kg) and Shashi Chopra (57kg) where among others to bag gold for India.
