Toyota inks MoU with Andhra Pradesh to introduce electric vehicles in state

Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh), Nov 16 (ANI): The Andhra Pradesh government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Toyota Kirloskar on Thursday in Amaravati to introduce electric vehicles in the state. The MoU was signed in presence of Minister for IT Nara Lokesh and Managing Director of Toyota Kirloskar Akito Tachibana. This is a first of its kind agreement for Toyota to introduce its electric cars in India under which two of its models will be provided to the state government for free. During the event, Nara Lokesh said the government will experimentally try these vehicles which will be delivered between May to December 2018. He added that the government is working on creating an ecosystem for electric vehicles in Andhra Pradesh. Discussions are underway with EV manufacturers, battery manufactures, cab aggregators and other stakeholders to create a comprehensive electric vehicles Policy for the state.
