Requested govt to allocate adequate funds, adapt global practices: SIMA Secretary on Union Budget 2020

Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu), Jan 28 (ANI): The Union Budget 2020 has to be presented this week. Textile industry is expecting positive announcements in general budget. The textile industry is going through crisis since past 4 years. The textile industry demands to come out with technology mission on cotton. Secretary General of The Southern India Mills’ Association (SIMA), K Selvaraju said, “MSP is not a sustainable solution, neither for the industry, nor for the farmers. We have the potential to increase our productivity to atleast 1000 kilos per hectare. We have requested the government to allocate adequate fund and adapt global practices.” People in textile industry believe that current situation will change once the government brings clear policies. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget on February 01.
