New Delhi, Nov 11 (ANI): Petrol and Diesel prices continued to witness a decline in the national capital on Sunday. It comes as a respite from the earlier skyrocketing prices of fuel which saw a hike almost every day. Petrol price in New Delhi saw a dip of Rs 16 paise and is now being retailed at Rs 77.73 per litre, while diesel price was decreased by Rs 12 paise and is now being sold at Rs 72.46 per litre. Meanwhile, petrol prices in Mumbai also saw a fall of Rs 16 paise to be sold at Rs 83.24 per litre. A litre of diesel is being sold at Rs 75.92 in the financial capital of the country following a dip of Rs 13 paise. Fuel prices became a bone of contention and were being viewed as a burning topic for upcoming elections. Although the ruling party had on several occasions clarified that global crude oil prices and other international factors are responsible for the increase in prices of petroleum products. In this regard, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had, on October 4, announced a reduction of Rs 2.50 per litre on both petrol and diesel prices after curbing excise duty on the commodity by Rs 1.50 per litre. He had also urged state governments to slash the same amount at their end.
