Budget 2019: Railway infrastructure would need investment of Rs 50 lakh crores between 2018-2030, says FM

New Delhi, July 05 (ANI): Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the budget for 2019-2020 in the national capital today. While addressing at the Lok Sabha, Nirmala Sitharaman said, “The comprehensive restructuring of National Highways Programme will be done, to ensure the creation of National Highways Grid of desirable capacity. Government envisions using rivers for cargo transport and it will also decongest roads and railways,” she added. “Railway infrastructure would need an investment of Rs 50 lakh crores between 2018 and 2030. PPP to be used to unleash faster development and the delivery of passenger freight services,” she further stated.
