New Delhi, Mar 21 (ANI): To compete with rival marketplaces run by eBay and Alibaba, American electronic commerce and cloud computing company Amazon, is pushing merchants on its website to sell into other countries to better compete. Amazon is encouraging merchants on its website to sell goods abroad to better compete with rival marketplaces run by eBay and Alibaba. According to the company's executive, in 2017 sellers on Amazon made more than a quarter of their revenue from selling to other countries. That's up more than 50 percent from the previous year. Analysts estimate that it’s between $50 billion and $75 billion. "They recently launched their service in Australia and, to the extent that they could have a combination of first party and third party sales effort, they can, one help them have a robust offering, more robust offering from day one, meaning available, offer consumers in Australia a larger merchandise of goods. And, number two, it could improve their profitability from day one," said Senior Research Analyst, D.A. Davidson Companies Tom Forte. The cross-border sales increase outpaced Amazon’s 31 percent rise in overall net sales in 2017.
