Following fresh snowfall in Himachal Pradesh during the past 24 hours, many roads have been closed and a number of power supply and water supply schemes have been disrupted, as per the state disaster management authority.
Dr. Soma Sen Roy, IMD Scientist said, "Amid the upcoming western disturbance, intense weather conditions are likely to be seen over the North Indian region. Correspondingly, we are expecting cold weather, especially over the western Himalayan region."
"The western disturbances are likely to affect the Himalayan region from the night of January 20 to January 26 while the plains of the northwest will be affected from January 23 to January 25," tweeted IMD.
Two Western Disturbances in quick succession are likely to affect northwest India on January 18 and another on January 20, said India Meteorological Department.

IMD said that due to approaching of two Western disturbances in quick succession, minimum temperatures are likely to rise gradually by 3 to 5 degree Celsius over many parts of northwest India during next three days
